Fostering Prayer & Information Breakfast

Thursday 23rd May 2019 - Book Here

9.30am - 11.30am, Bridge House, Riverside Court, Derby (next to The Riverside Centre)

You may have heard me speak recently at a City Vision lunch about our desire to help address the need for foster carers and adopters in our city. With over 500 children and young people in care in Derby City alone, there is a massive need for more foster carers to look after some of the most vulnerable children in our city.

Many of these children have been abused, abandoned and neglected. Surely this crisis is one to which the church should respond? We have a Biblical command to care for orphans and widows and we need to take this seriously.

To this end, I would like to invite you to a gathering at 9.30am on Thursday 23rd May where we will meet to pray and seek God as to what our response should be. I have invited Aled Griffith from Reach Nottingham to come and share what they have done in Nottingham in the last year or so. Churches there have responded together to a similar need in Nottingham and I thought it would be good to hear their story. I would love us as churches in Derby to make a real difference here – and we could!

We have an opportunity before us to make a real difference in our city. The recruitment of foster carers is a massive priority for the whole council at the moment and we could be part of the answer. Wouldn’t it be great if across our churches, we could meet some of this need?

Please can I invite you to come as leaders and also bring anyone with you from your church who has a heart for this area of ministry. Tea, coffee and a bacon or sausage cob will be provided free of charge, but you do need to book in here!

Please note that bookings will close at 23:59hrs on 15th May 2019.

Should you have any questions, please email me at: or call me on 01332 322655

With many thanks
